What is a TLD list?
A top-level domain (TLD) is the last part of a domain name, the .com in example.com. This TLD list covers every tracked extension in one table, with real registration and renewal prices per registrar. TLDs are overseen by ICANN, which delegates each extension to a registry operator; registrars then sell domains under each TLD at their own prices, which is why the same extension can cost very different amounts depending on where you buy it.
How to compare TLD prices with this table
To compare TLD prices, each row shows the cheapest registration we found for that extension (and which registrar has it), the cheapest renewal, the best 3-year total, and how many registrars we checked. Click any TLD to see the full price table for all registrars. Rows flagged renewal trap renew at more than triple the intro price, the classic catch behind heavily discounted extensions. Click any TLD for its dedicated page with the full breakdown and FAQ.
Which is the cheapest TLD?
The cheapest TLD changes with registrar promotions, but budget extensions like .xyz, .site, .online and .fun regularly drop under $2 for the first year. If you want the cheapest domain name available today, we keep a dedicated cheapest domain name ranking, sorted by live price and refreshed daily.
Types of TLD in this list
Generic TLDs (gTLDs) like .com, .net and .org are open to anyone and make up most of this TLD list, alongside newer extensions such as .xyz, .app and .dev. Country-code TLDs (ccTLDs) are two-letter extensions assigned to countries. .io, .ai, .co and .me are ccTLDs marketed globally. Some extensions are sponsored or restricted, requiring eligibility to register.
